Jenkki Xylitol Chewing Gum
CHEWING GUM THAT PREVENTS TOOTH DECAY

The importance of xylitol in dental care was discovered in Finland at the beginning of the 1970s when scientists at the University of Turku demonstrated that it prevented tooth decay. Contributing to the research by Turku University in Finland, Jenkki was keen on testing the dental benefits of xylitol, the natural sweetener also known as “birchsugar”. As the results were positive, Jenkki launched the world’s first xylitol-sweetened chewing gum in 1975, the Xylitol Jenkki.

For the first time, a product from the candy industry could be referred to for its health benefits, which made chewing gum attractive not only for children but for adults as well. Xylitol has been found effective for fighting bacteria, including that causing oral, nasal, or ear infections.

Not only does xylitol offer great taste, but it contains 40% fewer calories and 75% fewer carbohydrates than regular table sugar. It also has none of the side effects or bad aftertaste of artificial sweeteners.

Over time Jenkki has expanded its product offering by various flavours and packages to attract all ages.

Jenkki takes pride in popularizing xylitol to an everyday healthy habit. Xylitol Jenkki’s indisputable dental benefits were recognized also by the Finnish Dental Association in 1988. As a result, Xylitol Jenkki was the first product allowed to use the Association’s recommendation and approval label.
